The new Hamilton Park Health Care Center and Atrium complex, downtown at Ninth Street and Jersey Avenue, is located on the edge of historic Hamilton Park, a peaceful refuge of trees, benches and paths surrounded by gorgeous 19th century brownstone and limestone buildings. At the green's center is an impressive gazebo. At times the Park is the site of outdoor Shakespearean performances, Farmer's Markets, Easter Egg Hunts, May Plant Sales and Fall Bulb Planting. The local shops offer a variety of ethnic foods. An active neighborhood society keeps a protective eye over the square and the diverse neighborhood, where people have known each other's families for generations. To the nearby south, on the Hudson Riverfront, is the sprawling Liberty State Park, with breathtaking views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty along its 4-mile walkway.
